As TexArrest continues to grow, itβs time to talk openly about monetization, sustainability, and how the platform will support continued development.
π° Monetization: Google Ads Added
TexArrest has officially added Google Ads to the site.
Like any other software platform, ByteOmen needs a source of income to support ongoing development, infrastructure costs, and long-term maintenance. With the amount of traffic TexArrest is now receiving, advertising made sense as a first step.
Current Traffic Snapshot
- ~2,500 users in the last 28 days
- ~300 active users per day
- Submitted to Google for indexing on December 4, 2025
Considering how recently TexArrest launched β and the fact that traffic continues to grow as more counties and records are added β this level of engagement is encouraging and validates the direction of the project.
Advertising allows TexArrest to remain free to use, without locking public records behind subscriptions or paywalls.
π Considering a Paid Annotation Feature (Not Removal)
We are also exploring a paid annotation feature for individual arrest records.
This feature would allow record holders to:
- Add contextual notes (e.g., case dismissed, charges reduced, mistaken identity, etc.)
- Provide clarification without altering the original record
What This Feature Is NOT
- β Not record removal
- β Not pay-to-delete
- β Not hiding public records
TexArrest will never remove an arrest record unless legally required (such as expunctions or court orders). Public records remain public.
Annotations would exist alongside the record, clearly marked as user-submitted context, giving viewers additional information without rewriting history.
This approach maintains transparency while offering a responsible option for clarification.
π§ Transparency First
The goal is to strike a balance:
- Keep public data accessible and free
- Avoid predatory removal practices
- Allow responsible context when appropriate
- Sustain development without compromising integrity
If this feature moves forward, it will be implemented carefully and clearly labeled.
βΈοΈ Development Pace Update
Over the past few days, development slowed slightly as I took a short break from coding. As a solo developer juggling multiple responsibilities, occasional pauses are necessary to avoid burnout.
Work on TexArrest will continue, and progress will resume with:
- Ongoing county expansion
- Automation improvements
- TexBot refinements
- Taxonomy normalization
π Where Things Stand
- β Google Ads live
- π Traffic growing steadily
- π Annotation feature under consideration
- βοΈ Removal policy unchanged (law-required only)
- π Development continuing
TexArrest is still early, but momentum is real β and growing.
More updates soon.
